Most productive Salmon Rivers in Kerry

 I came across very interesting publications on the fisheries Ireland website. The salmon monitoring data which i somehow missed is very interesting. Basically the IFI do surveys every year because to keep rivers open to Salmon anglers then the rivers must be producing enough salmon fry to deem it productive. Electronic surveys are completed and in very basic terms a count of salmon fry is estimated. I am not very well educated in the subject but I believe that the count is done throughout the river and that is what produces the data. The Feale is not in the charts because it's a different district but I can tell people it would make just about into the top five! It's interesting that some very little rivers are doing well and how we don't as a country acknowledge that. A lot more should be done, and its great to see the legendary river Maine do its thing, tight lines...
