THE OWENMORE RIVER
Flowing into Brandon Bay, this unique property consists of the entire Owenmore River system from its source high on the eastern slopes of Mount Brandon down to the wonderful sandy estuary. The river itself is a spate river draining nine lakes and a 17 square mile catchment area and the fishery is renowned for its wonderful supply of salmon, grilse, brown trout and sea trout in its holding pools and lakes. This wild and beautifully scenic spot is surrounded by bog and mountain and remains wholly unspoilt by development. The geographical features of Owenmore are quite unique with two unusual corrie lakes and Mount Brandon, at 950 metres, the third highest mountain in Ireland. There are shooting rights over 330 acres of land and a 3 bedroom cottage, in need of renovation, on the public road. Part of the river and lands are now in a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) whilst the river provides a habitat to the Freshwater Pearl Mussel.

THE FISHING
There are approximately five miles of fishing along the main river, with 33 named pools and an additional 73 hectares (180 acres) of lake fishing. The salmon, grilse and sea trout begin to run in April, continuing through spring and summer into early October. Loughs Duff, Gal, Clogharee and Atlea are visited by both Atlantic salmon and sea trout. These migrating fish spend the summer and autumn months in the lakes before their winter spawning period. The higher lakes are populated by resident brown trout, with Arctic char also reported. Fishing has been on a fly only, catch and release basis with all the fish in the Owenmore system wild stock. The fishery is entirely self-sustaining.

DINGLE PENINSULA
The scenic Dingle Peninsula and the spectacular Conor Pass overlooking the fishery are renowned throughout Ireland and the world. The estuary of the river runs into the sandy Brandon Bay at Cloghane which is located on the northern tip of the peninsula in the parish of Castlegregory. The villages of Cloghane and Brandon are set in a semicircle under the mountain peaks overlooking the beautiful Brandon Bay. This is a Gaeltacht region, an area rich in language, music and dance. The Conor Pass is the highest mountain pass in Ireland, which offers extraordinary views over large parts of the Dingle Peninsula. The area also boasts the longest beach in Ireland, which starts in Cloghane and runs unbroken through Fermoyle, Castlegregory, and down the Maharees Peninsula. There are several traditional pubs in the area serving fine locally-caught seafood and a number of renowned hotels and restaurants. Pony trekking, scuba diving, windsurfing, canoeing and waterskiing are available in Castlegregory village and on the Maharees Peninsula, about a five-minute drive away. The nearest golf course is a fine links course at Castlegregory with Ballybunion, Killarney, and Tralee courses within an hour’s drive.
